PM Modi in Bodh Gaya, Meditates at Mahabodhi Temple

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited Bodh Gaya in Bihar and offered special prayers and also made his contribution to the donation box at Mahabodhi Temple, Buddhism’s the holiest shrine. PM Modi reached Bodh Gaya to attend the concluding the three-day international Buddhist conclave.

“Soon after arriving at Gaya airport, PM Modi went straight to the 1,500-year-old Mahabodhi temple, where he offered prayers,” Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee secretary N Dorjee said.

After offering prayers, PM Modi circumambulated the Mahabodhi tree under which Lord Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment 2,550 years ago.

PM Modi had tweeted about his visit this morning. He tweeted saying that he considered himself blesses that he could visit Bodh Gaya. And that he is the Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to visit Bodh Gaya. He also tweeted that he is looking forward to the interaction with Buddhist saint, scholars and delegates.
